We broke up, and for ten years we barely spoke. Then this morning a call asking me to go to Jamaica. WTH? This idea was just so random because we've maintained a long distance friendship with one another and that's it. A time or two, he has entertained the idea of us getting back together only to be quickly, but gently, shot down. You see, I'm a firm believer that people come and go from your life for reasons, but as adults, some friendships can be maintained. So now, my only question is, do I pack my bags or kindly decline?
Finding a mate is especially challenging for Single Black Women
If we were to believe everything we read in popular media, the lines to join the nunnery would be out the door, filled with hundreds of thousands of single black women. According to study after study, the prospects are slim to none for SBW hoping to find a compatible mate. Six Degrees From Love journals the life of a SBW and her struggles with dating and other related aspects of her personal and social lives. Could this be the one SBW who'll find the one who'll put a ring on it?

Tonya, honestly, it seems as if you understand exactly where your relationship stands with him. And obviously if the conversation of getting back together has come and gone, it seems as if he knows where the relationship stands as well (but be careful, guys can be quite unpredictable. Maybe this is his way of seeing if things COULD be rekindled). Ultimately, I say, why not? It is probably cold in Raleigh; go and soak up some sun!!!
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, you need to decline! I've been there and done that one... only difference is it was approximately 7 years after receiving a letter and I went on the trip & took the leap. Things went great for about 8 months until it took a HUUUGE nose dive and I ended up in counseling healing the same type of wounds from before. You're worth so much more than that... move on and move up!
ReplyDeleteOMG, It just snowed here on Tuesday, so right now it would very difficult for me to say no to Jamaica. LOL! I say pack your bags!! I think you can go and have a great time without having any expectations of this developing into something serious. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice ladies. I'm about 95% sure that I'll be packing my bags for Jamaica, but I have a few things that need to be crystal clear for us both before leaving. I have to admit, it feels pretty good to be treated to something so nice...been a long time!
